WHAT IS CBD?
CBD, short for cannabidiol, is a chemical compound derived from the Cannabis sativa (L) plant. There are over 200 different cannabinoids found in cannabis and the two most well-known are CBD and THC. THC is well-known for the mind-altering intoxication, or “high” it pro- duces. CBD is NOT psychoactive and this means that it does not change the state of mind of the person who uses it. In short, it won’t mess with your head – or the law! However, it does produce significant changes in the body and has some remarkable and well-documented medical benefits.
How do I take it and what is the optimal dosage?
Start small – ‘less is more’ is often the case with cannabis therapy so start low and go slow! CBD oil works differently for each individual because every person has a different nervous system and metabolism. Listen to your body, take notice of any changes and increase the dose until you get the desired results. Don’t overdo it, don’t take all the drops at once and don’t expect immediate results.
5% CBD Complete is the optimum strength to begin. Start by taking 2 drops sublingually (under the tongue), twice a day, and leave there for at least 2–3 minutes — and don’t move the tongue, talk or swallow! This is because absorption is via the epithelial tissue (mucous mem- brane) below the tongue and around the gum and which is by far the best way to get the CBD into the blood stream and nervous system.
Increase the amount after 3 to 5 days or until experiencing a reduction in symptoms. Experiment to find the right dosage for yourself. Re- search into CBD is still in its infancy and dosing schedules are still being formulated — but what is known is that by incorporating CBD oil into your daily routine can have significant benefits for your physical and mental health.
As an approximate guide for general health use 2–10mg daily; to treat chronic pain use 2–20mg daily. One drop of MediHemp 5% CBD Complete = 2mg CBD.
